What’s been happening:

In late 2007, left The Richmond Times-Dispatch after 33 years, the last 19 as a columnist, to focus on writing books. In early 2008, also took over as editor of the bi-monthly Boomer Life magazine, bringing along a number of former Times-Dispatch writers who had left the newspaper, as well. In early 2009, latest non-fiction book, "Hatteras Island: Keeper of the Outer Banks," was released and became a regional best-seller. "Hatteras" was the third in a North Carolina coastal collection that included award winners "Topsail Island: Mayberry by the Sea" and "Wrightsville Beach: The Luminous Island." In 2009, celebrated 30th anniversary with wife Vicki. Oldest daughter Lindsay (married and with a daughter) received a Master's degree from Penn State. Son Ryan, a 2006 graduate of Penn State, continued his 27-month Peace Corps assignment in the West African nation of Mauritania. Youngest daughter Jamie graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University.
